New Campaign Finance Board Report Shows Small Donors with Large 2017 Footprint

Areport released by New York City’s Campaign Finance Board shows that small donors are increasingly playing a larger role in city elections, thanks to the city’s public financing program. In 2017, small donor involvement was greater than ever before: about 73 percent of contributors to mayoral candidates were small donors giving $175 or less. That’s up from 43 percent in the 2013 election cycle and 70 percent in 2009.
