Seattle’s Radical Plan to Fight Big Money in Politics

In advance of the 2017 local elections in Seattle, residents received $100 in the form of vouchers to be donated to candidates of their choice. The new program is already receiving popular support from residents who feel more included in the political process. Compared to the previous city election cycle, the number of small-dollar donations more than tripled, from 8,200 in 2015 to 25,000 in 2017.
