Religious and Secular Leaders Call for Public Financing of Elections

A coalition of religious and secular leaders have called on New York lawmakers to include a number of democracy-strengthening reforms in the 2019 budget. At a rally in the state Capitol, Reverend Peter Cook, the Executive Director of the New York State Council of Churches, pushed for public financing to lessen the influence of money in politics, as well as voting reforms.
