Public financing should be in the state budget (Editorial)

Citing the many benefits of small donor public financing, the Newsday editorial board urges legislators in the state Senate and Assembly to put the reform in their respective one-house budgets. This policy has been supported by members of both houses in previous sessions. With a favorable majority in the Senate and Assembly, Albany has the opportunity to make small donor public financing a reality for New Yorkers. Per the editorial board, “to stop short would be nothing short of hypocrisy.”
