New York State Can Lead the Country on Publicly Financed Elections

As New York state legislators determine the details of the final budget legislation for the 2020 fiscal year, major players on the national stage are weighing in on the significance of passing small donor public financing through the budget. Presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted in favor of the reform, and Reverend Jesse Jackson argued that creating a public financing system for New York state “could mark a new era not just in New York, but across the land.”
