Urging action on public financing commission

The New York State Council of Churches is pushing the governor and legislative leaders to appoint the public financing commission created by this fiscal year’s state budget.  The Council is encouraging New Yorkers to make calls to the three leaders’ offices to send home this message.  Underscoring the urgency of the call to action, Reverend Peter Cook, Executive Director of the Council, wrote, “Big donors dominate our elections, and it’s time to change the status quo. We can create a democracy in New York that works for everyone, not just a rich donor class of predominantly white men.”
