Dave Palmer, campaign manager for the Fair Elections for New York coalition, responds to Ravi Gupta’s op-ed on reforming state politics. Palmer warns against letting the legislature off the hook when it comes to campaign finance reform. That said, Palmer agrees with the author’s central point: “The Legislature didn’t pass a comprehensive public financing of elections law when it could have because keeping challengers away, and keeping the big campaign money flowing, is prioritized over fixing New York’s broken democracy.”
