The New York Public Campaign Financing Commission took its final votes at its Monday working meeting. A majority of the commissioners approved a package that includes a match on small donations of $250 or less, a $6-to-$1 match on contributions to statewide candidates, a tiered match on in-district contributions to legislative candidates, and lower contribution limits for all offices. While many campaign finance advocates recognize that the proposed changes are a step in the right direction, some argue that the recommendations have not gone far enough.
