Baltimore resident Naba Wahid writes that the creation of a Fair Election Fund for city elections will be particularly beneficial to women running for office. A committee of the City Council voted unanimously in favor of a bill that will create such a fund. Wahid explains, “Recent scholarship has suggested that women have a tougher time getting donations for their campaigns than men and that women tend to rely heavily on small donations. However, with the Fair Election Fund, small donations will have power.”
